Katia is an award-winning freelance magazine journalist and a former staff reporter at Forbes. Her work has appeared in The New Yorker, The Atavist, Pacific Standard, Mother Jones, Marie Claire, The Washington Post and many other publications. A proud generalist, she is often drawn to stories about inequality, psychology, wrongdoing and mysteries of all kinds. She has received support and honors for her work from the Society for Advancing Business Editing and Writing, SPJ-NorCal, the Economic Hardship Reporting Project, the Gumshoe Group, the Kaiser Global Health Reporting Fellowship and the Stabile Center for Investigative Journalism at Columbia University. Previously, Katia worked as a private investigator and as an international development consultant.
