FRIDAYs, March 13th - 27th | In this three-week generative poetry class, we’ll study bold, modern poets—primarily poets of color—who are reshaping the lyric through fragmentation, syntax play, documentary elements, and emotional precision. Each session introduces a clear craft concept, examines poems closely, and then turns quickly to hands-on writing.
This class is designed for poets who want to break habits, experiment with form and voice, and generate new work without pressure to polish. Expect lively discussion, short lectures, close reading, and generous writing time. No workshops—this is a making class, focused on momentum and discovery.
Students will leave with at least four strong poem starts, new approaches to line and structure, and practical tools they can return to again and again.
